Welcome, Dr. Lee Morrow & patients! We are so glad to have you as part of our family.
Temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ) affects a segment of our patient base on a regular basis. Constant jaw pain and headaches are uncomfortable and unmanageable. Dr. Kleckner and staff provide options to minimize the effects of disorder as much as possible.
Mouth guards are used to helping prevent trauma to the teeth and temporomandibular joints (TMJs) due to clenching and/or grinding habits. We have a variety of appliances in the night guard and bite guard categories that can be used to treat the symptoms of TMJ.
Your customized appliance should be worn nightly, or as otherwise directed by Dr. Kleckner. Removing and cleaning your appliances with water and a toothbrush to remove any buildup that occurs during use is imperative. Oftentimes, denture cleansing tablets can be used to help keep your appliance clean. If you are experiencing severe symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) such as headaches, joint pain, and/or jaw aches, it may take several weeks of use to notice a change or decrease in symptoms.
Sometimes appliances require adjustments, so please call our office for an appointment if you feel discomfort during or after use of your appliance. Please bring your appliance with you to your routine cleaning appointments so that it can be cleaned and evaluated for wear and fit. We are passionate about improving our patients’ quality of life. Call Dr. Joanna Kleckner to get fitted for your new nighttime appliance.
