Cleanliness is of the utmost importance to ensure patient safety in dental offices. At Joanna Kleckner DDS, we take cleanliness seriously and strictly follow the guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the American Dental Association (ADA). We accomplish our stellar record of infection control with our thorough dental sterilization policy

Dental Sterilization Policy

At Joanna Kleckner DDS, we have a thorough Dental Sterilization Policy that we are strictly following for every patient. This includes standard precautions, specific guidelines from the CDC, OSHA, ADA, as well as additional engineering controls to ensure patient safety.

Standard Precaution and Engineering Controls

We have always gone above and beyond with precautions to maintain our high standard of cleanliness and sterilization. We’ve recently implemented even more precautions to help keep the air cleaner and our patients safe.

    • Whole office UV Air scrubber filtering air at 22 cfm
      • Significantly reduces pathogens in the air of the entire office
    • IQAir HEPA units throughout office at 75 cfm
      • Eliminates fine and ultrafine particles such as bacteria and viruses from air
    • Vaniman Vanguard Gold Mobile extraoral suction
      • Significantly reduces spread of potentially pathogenic aerosols from dental procedures
    • Isodry and DryShield intraoral suction
      • Significantly limits the release of potentially harmful aerosols during dental procedures
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
      • PPE including gowns and caps changed for each patient
      • Head covering
      • Fluid resistant gowns
      • KN95 or N95 masks with additional surgical masks over top
      • Face shields
      • Protective eyewear
    • Surface Disinfection
      • EPA approved disinfectants
      • We clean all surfaces between every appointment including dental lights, handles, countertops, computer equipment
    • Hand Hygiene

Sterilization of Dental Instruments

At your last visit, you may have noticed how many instruments we use to get your teeth beautiful and healthy. Before we use any of our instruments, we make sure they are clean and sterile.

To get our instruments ready for each patient, we place our instruments into dental sterilization equipment per the ADA, CDC, and OSHA. This means putting all appropriate tools into our dental autoclave (steam sterilizer). The sterilizer heats instruments to 270 degrees Farenheit to remove any bacteria or viruses.

At Joanna Kleckner DDS,  you can be sure your visit will be safe and comfortable. We have always placed a priority on going above and beyond with our sterilization and cleaning protocols. Hopefully by learning about how we provide infection control in our dental office makes you feel informed and ready to make the decision to get your dental needs met by us. We look forward to seeing you! Please give us a call to reserve your appointment time.
